Volunteer with Us

Volunteering is a great way to develop your skills and get some 'real world' experience. At the emPoWeR Unit we are always looking for volunteers to help with tasks such as:

- statistical analysis
- creating surveys and patient resources
- data collection
- website development
- arranging fund raising activities

If you would like to volunteer with us email
Dr Michelle Peate with your current resume, availability and what you're hoping to achieve while working with us.

Our newest volunteer, Sonja Lehmann, shares what her experience was like volunteering with us at the emPoWeR Unit
" I completed by Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry and Psychology at McGill University (Canada) in December 2017. My partner was going to University of Melbourne on exchange, and we last minute decided that I should come along as well. That’s how I ended up on this side of the world!! I’ve always been interested in feminism, research and health care – so the emPoWeR unit looked like a great way to get involved.

I sent Dr Michelle Peate an email about myself, and then we met in person. She is incredibly passionate about her work and just an all-around inspiring human. The emPoWeR Unit is made up of the most hard-working, well organized and ambitious people I’ve ever met. The work they do and the enthusiasm they do it with has inspired me to take my own career seriously. I hope to continue to research and address the unmet needs of women in the health care system wherever the world may take me next
