FoRECAsT Consortium and Databank

The FoRECAsT Constortium was established in 2016 to provide multidisciplinary guidance to support the research team in developing the FoRECAsT databank for assessing the long-term impact of breast cancer treatment on ovarian function decline and infertility.

The FoRECAsT consortium is a multidisciplinary team of experts, including medical oncologists, breast surgeons, breast care nurses, fertility specialists, reproductive endocrinologists, gynaecologists, clinical psychologists, epidemiologists, statisticians, computing and information systems experts, behavioural scientists, and a consumer representative

It comprises of 19 participating institutes located in Australia, the United Kingdom, the United States of America, Hong Kong, France, Belgium, Denmark, Italy, and International Trial Groups.

FoRECAsT Databank Infrastructure

The FoRECAsT databank contained a total of 128,001 records, with a total of 389 variables across three population groups. Of these records, 24,178 (18.9%) met the eligibility criteria and were included in the analysis. The final data set, comprised of 7,473 breast cancer population records (30.9% out of eligible), 11,151 fertile population records (46.1% out of eligible), and 5,554 infertile population records (23.0% out of eligible).

The databank was encrypted and stored on a secure University of Melbourne server with access restricted to study personnel only. Access to the databank and the accompanying data dictionary was granted to the FoRECAsT consortium for further utilisation of the data with approval by the Chief Investigator. Controlled access is enforced to maintain confidentiality and compliance with data protection standards. Regular monitoring and backups of the databank are performed by the study team.
