The RECEIVE Study: A Survey of Women's Perspective on Pursuing and Receiving Donor Eggs
|
Donor eggs may offer a solution for women affected by infertility. Studies from overseas show a high demand for donor eggs, but many patients cannot easily access eggs. Little is known about the psychological, emotional, and behavioural impact of seeking a donor egg in Australia. One of the challenges is that we do not know much about what patients who seek a donor egg go through. The aim of this study is to learn about this experience. We want to better understand how many patients are recommended to use donor eggs and what they do with this recommendation, if there are those who have looked for a donor egg but not been able to get one, whether people have tried looking overseas for eggs, what they look for in a donor egg, the impact of this experience on their wellbeing, and if there is anything that would have made their experience of looking for an egg easier. We will use this information to improve the experiences of women seeking donor eggs.
